Our Ethics Policy

The International Centre for EdTech Impact , Org.nr. No 922 043 515 , Norway

The International Centre for EdTech Impact ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to highest ethical standards. The core strength of our Centre lies in the collective expertise and shared knowledge contributed by the researchers and scholars affiliated with it. Our Code of Ethics serves as a foundational framework for ongoing dialogue and contextual adaptation. While no set of guidelines can encompass every possible ethical dilemma or scenario, this Code is intended to support, rather than replace, sound judgment, transparent communication, and professional integrity. Our Ethics Policy it does not supersede or override any specific codes of conduct or terms of engagement that may apply to individual research collaborations or partnership agreements.

The foundation of our Ethics Policy is rooted in the principle of treating others with the same respect and integrity that we expect for ourselves. Our key values are:

Integrity

Research is an iterative process aimed at uncovering facts and truth, often revealing both intended and unintended consequences. When commissioned to conduct a study, we commit to reporting all findings transparently, including positive, negative, and neutral results. This principle applies to all research we undertake, whether commissioned by external evaluation organizations or the companies we study, ensuring unbiased and rigorous analysis. All our researchers are certified and rigorously vetted by our team. As a university spin-out, we bridge the gap between academic research and practical application by bringing cutting-edge insights from leading researchers into real-world practice. Rather than offering one-off, short-term consultancy, we focus on building long-term partnerships, acting as a strategic thinking partner for companies. Through our extensive network of national and international researchers, we ensure that EdTech companies receive the most relevant and up-to-date research insights from experts in the field.

Transparency

We are dedicated to transparent communication, ensuring that our partners and clients fully comprehend our processes while adhering to strict confidentiality protocols and safeguarding sensitive information. Given the nature of our field, we maintain the highest standards of discretion and data security to protect entrusted data. We are steadfast in our commitment to respecting human dignity, autonomy, and privacy, recognizing and prioritizing the rights and interests of both clients, partners and employees. Our dedication to equity and inclusivity ensures that all individuals are treated with impartiality, courtesy, and fairness, irrespective of gender, ethnicity, or background.

Reliability

We take great pride in our responsibility to ensure that the decisions and initiatives driving organizational development and change are well-founded, impactful, and contribute meaningfully to long-term success. As part of this process, we strive to uphold the highest standards of quality, impartiality, and professionalism, fostering trust among our funders, partners, and clients. Our commitment to excellence is reflected in our rigorous adherence to international quality standards, methodological robustness and plurality, reliability in project delivery and agreed timelines and dedication to producing work of the utmost societal value.

Responsibility

We recognize our responsibility to the public in ensuring that evidence-based insights on what works in EdTech are communicated clearly, accurately, and accessibly. We are committed to sharing research findings through diverse channels, including academic publications, policy briefs, and public engagement, to inform educators, policymakers, and industry leaders. We acknowledge our responsibility towards environmental sustainability and planetary health. We actively seek to minimize our ecological footprint and integrate environmentally responsible practices into our work. In projects involving vulnerable populations, we uphold the highest standards of ethical responsibility and safeguarding. We are committed to protecting the dignity, rights, and well-being of all individuals we engage with. We strive to foster a responsible, ethical, and sustainable approach in all aspects of our work.

We encourage our employees, partners, clients, and contractors who become aware of any breach of conduct to promptly report it to our director, who will initiate an investigation and take appropriate corrective action as needed.
